One Year of PROTEMO: Highlights and Progress

In January we launched the PROTEMO project and embarked on a mission to investigate the emotions of protective policies.

Looking back on our first twelve months we are proud of our achievements so far:

  • We launched the PROTEMO website, providing the general public with information on the project's activities and objectives as well as the dedicated team behind it.
  • We held a public conference on "Emotional Dynamics of (In)security and Politics" in June at the Saarbrücken campus of the Saarland University, hosted by the Chair of Political Science and Comparative European Research of Saarland University (USAAR) and with key notes from two of advisory board members Prof. Dr. Bethany L. Albertson and Iryna Hubeladze.
  • We completed work package (WP) 1 Theoretical and conceptual framework, delivering literature reviews on emotions related to politics and on political communication and policy-making as well as the emotional needs of individuals, groups, policymakers, emotional policy entrepreneurs and emotional framing.
  • We held our first online Stakeholder Workshop in October to gather insights and receive feedback on the research design and to engage mutual learning from stakeholders.
  • We finalised the the fist wave of the survey, to be released in January.

We look forward to a productive and insightful 2025 and wish all our stakeholders a happy holiday season!
