The Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences

The Institute of Psychology of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IPPAN) is a scientific institution that conducts basic and applied research projects and mentors a pool of highly qualified scientists. IPPAN is fully accredited to grant doctoral degrees and habilitations.

IPPAS has experience with cooperation in international projects (e.g., 6th EU-framework, HORIZON 2020, NORFACE, GRIEG, and others). In 2016, as the first Polish institution in social sciences, the Institute of Psychology PAN was awarded with „HR Excellence in Research” logo by the European Commission.

Role within PROTEMO

The team from IPPAN led by Katarzyna Hamer cooperates or leads in the following Work Packages (WP):

  1. WP 1 - Theoretical and conceptual framework. Preparation of a literature review on the results of research regarding experimental frames in the area of different protective policies regarding topics such as health, climate change, refugee crisis, or legal system.
  2. WP 2 – Participating in preparing a data management plan and preparation of a 3-wave survey on representative samples from 11 countries (Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, and the UK), including experimental parts.
  3. WP 3 – Analysis of collected data from the PROTEMO survey and experiments using quantitative methods.
  4. WP4 - Affective citizenship and protection in war and abroad: Deep dive Ukraine. This task is devoted to qualitative research (focus groups and interviews) organised with groups of Ukrainian refugees and anti-war citizens in four EU countries: Poland, Germany, Italy, and Portugal.
  5. WP6 - Synthesising reactions and policy-making, deep dives and multi-country comparisons as well as theoretical advances. Workshops.
  6. WP7 - Dissemination, Communication, Exploitation and Sustainability.
